Over more than 10 years I've helped hundreds of students to learn guitar

Before 2019 100% of my lessons were face-to-face but now I provide mainly online guitar lessons. They’ve been so successful even local students choose to stay online!

Over the years I have taught all kinds of people and helped them overcome their individual musical challenges. As a result of this wealth of experience there’s a good chance I can provide advice and wisdom that will spur you towards your musical goals.

How do I teach?

I think it's important to understand that everybody learns differently, at different speeds, with different strengths and weaknesses, and likes and dislikes.

With this in mind I try to vary my teaching approach to suit each and every student.

Most students enjoy learning guitar through the songs and music genres they enjoy listening to.

So, whilst it's more work for me, I make sure each of my students benefit from tailor made lesson plans designed to be as fun, engaging and relevant as possible.

We'll spend our time learning what matters to you.

Beginner to Advanced

50% of my guitar students are absolute beginners. Most of the other half played guitar for a few years before concluding lessons were necessary to improve further. I also have a small number of students who arrived as very competent musicians. As a result their lessons are usually focussed on very specific content.

Young and Old

My youngest student ever was four (she’s twelve now and still playing!). I teach plenty of teenagers – often helping them to develop their chops specifically to start up a band. And many more of my students have reached retirement age and finally have enough time to learn an instrument.

I teach every Genre

That’s actually not true. I teach traditional rock, indy and pop as well as advanced fingerstyle folk and blues. Exactly what we do in your lessons depends on the music you enjoy. I recommend students looking for a true classical and jazz approach seek a specialist tutor.
